Toyota FT-86 Concept Unveiling at Tokyo Motor Show Designed to preview the jointly developed Toyota/Subaru sports car, the FT-86 features sleek styling and a compact design. According to Toyota, the concept "embodies speed and the excitement of driving that give cars their appeal as well as environmental performance." Overall, the coupe measures 4,160mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,260mm high. With a wheelbase of 2,570mm, Toyota says FT-86 can comfortably accommodate four occupants. While the company declined to release additional information, the concept is powered by Subaru's 2.0-liter naturally aspirated Boxer petrol engine. It is expected to produce between 160 and 200 hp. Other performance goodies include a six-speed manual transmission, ADVICS brakes, and rear-wheel drive. Toyota Mark X Impresses in Tokyo The new Toyota Mark X made its debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The RWD Mark X is equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 engine as well as a 2.5-litre V6. It features a sporty mesh grille and a tri-lense lamp layout for the headlamps and taillights. Shades of 2009 Camry and current Lexus IS give it an attractive if not slightly conservative design. Toyota says the 2.5-litre will achieve a 0 - 100mkm/h sprint time of 8.4 seconds and return 7l/100km (49.2 mpg US) in fuel efficiency figures. Equipment installed includes an HDD navigation system with Map on Demand, Radar Cruise Control and Hill-start Assist Control. Minimum prices start at 2.38 million (17,594/ US$26,080) for the 250G F Package version. Toyota FT-EV II Charges into Tokyo Toyota brought out the Toyota FT-EV II earlier this week. Fans of the brand will get to see the electric concept all throughout the Tokyo Motor Show. With a "retro-futuristic" interior, the car is designed with two levers in place of a steering wheel and pedals. It has an active auto-pilot that navigates the vehicle while simultaneously downloading audio and video suiting the owner's tastes. The concept has a 90 kilometer range, and a top speed of 100 km/h.
