Toyota settles lawsuit tied to crash that triggered recalls

20 September 2010 - Toyota owners had been contacting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about unintended acceleration issues for years, but one tragedy put the spotlight on Toyota's problems. Last August, California police officer Mark Saylor and three family members died when the family's 2009 Lexus ES 350  rental flipped and caught fire after a trapped floor mat reportedly caused the vehicle to speed out of control.






Start-stop tech might be in your next new car, be ready

18 September 2010 - At a stop light. In the drive-thru. In your driveway. Stop-start technology  turns off the engine whenever the vehicle is on and the driver's foot is on the brake. The merits of the technology are hard to ignore; fuel economy savings as high as 15 percent. But while stop-start has been widely adopted in Europe, here in the U.S. the only non-hybrid vehicle to feature the tech is the Porsche Panamera.






Bad attitude and selfishness causes of road accidents

17 September 2010 - According to Mufors (Malaysian Unite for Road Safety), it is the attitude of drivers which have been the main cause of accidents and fatalities on the road. Much of these are contributed by the selfishness and bad attitude of drivers as concluded in an online poll they conducted. The poll involved 1,500 respondents where 549 of them (36.6%) said that they felt it was the 2 main reasons for the high and rising rate of road accidents in the country.

Local Assembly In Malaysia for 5 Foreign Automakers

15 September 2010 - The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) has revealed that it is currently evaluating applications from five foreign automotive players interested in setting up assembly plants in Malaysia, and that the final outcomes of whether they are eligible for manufacturing licences will be announced in a few months.






Mini and Smart - e-scooters

14 September 2010 - PARIS: Smart and MINI are thinking of making electric scooters, and they have drawn up concepts that will be shown at the Paris Motor Show. Details are sketchy in the literal sense of the word. Both car makers have only offered sketches of their bikes at this stage.
