Ferrari 1-2 In German GP

TEAMCAR - M.Schumacher and F. Massa finished first and second in Sunday German Grand Prix while pole position Raikonen manage to finished third.

Michael Schumacher and Ferrari dominated the German Grand Prix as Schumacher took his home race victory, his third successive win, and teammate Felipe Massa played his part perfectly to come home second. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen gambled on a three-stop strategy to the leaders' two-stop and he took the final podium place in third.

Michael Schumacher has a very good chance to beat Fernando Alonso in the driver championship race this season. Alonso can only finished 5th in German GP and this let Schumacher cut his lead to only 11 points.

Raikkonen takes first pole of season at German GP

TEAMCAR - Kimi Raikkonen finally claimed his first pole position of the season at the German Grand Prix, the McLaren man's best time a 1:14.070. The Finn was just under one and a half tenths faster than Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, who will line up along side, and the second Ferrari of Felipe Massa was third. Reigning champion Fernando Alonso could only manage seventh.

Michael and Massa will line up second and third -- one has to imagine that Raikkonen is running quite light on fuel so it will be interesting to see how the strategies play out on Sunday. It was a poor day for Alonso -- not much of a 25th birthday present -- but if Raikkonen can take points off Michael it will be a slight compensation for Renault.

Despite Raikkonen being on pole Ferrari look to be the favourites in the race. No matter what happens on Sunday Alonso will still lead the standings going to Hungary, but by how much? Final top 10 classification: Raikkonen, M. Schumacher, Massa, Button, Fisichella, Barrichello, Alonso, R. Schumacher, de la Rosa, Coulthard.

Kubica fastest on German GP Friday

TEAMCAR - BMW Sauber third driver Robert Kubica topped the time sheet in the second free practice session for the German Grand Prix, and was the fastest man of the day.

Once again there was controversy, this time in regard to mass dampers. The FIA recently banned such devices but Renault submitted data that apparently showed the dampers improved mechanical, not aerodynamic, grip. Therefore stewards have now permitted use of mass dampers but reportedly Renault did not employ them today.

This was because the FIA is now appealing the decision of its own stewards. It's yet to be known when the hearing will take place but if the FIA's appeal is successful any team using mass dampers could be disqualified retrospectively. If it's not one thing it's another...

MotoGP - Will Rossi Catch Up?

TEAMCAR - What's the story with Valentino Rossi. Surely he can't really be struggling this much.

What is he doing? His qualifying performance is going backwards. Each race, at present, he is starting further and further back and then storming through the field to end up not quite winning. And not quite winning is probably enough for Rossi to make sure that he can come from behind at the end of the season and overhaul Nicky Heydon's championship lead to be World Champion again.

On Sunday, Rossi did something almost unheard of: he retired. Before that, he was doing his thing of scything through from almost the back to almost the front. Almost unheard of until the French GP in May this year.

In May, Rossi suffered a very rare engine failure with his Yamaha. He was miles in front at the time. Then on Sunday his bike packed up again, seemingly suffering heatstroke. But once again, he had come from the back almost to the front.

In Malaysia, everyone knows what to expect. The bikes will be set up and the tyre engineers will be ready for both heat and the possibility of heavy rain.

Rossi trails Hayden by enough points to make it difficult to catch up. But with five races to go, and Hayden's self-destructive tendencies, it's not over yet.

Rossi's not sandbagging: he's having his toughest season yet. But he's not giving up. He knows that all he has to do is win almost all the remaining races and that one DNF for Hayden will bring him back within easy reach if Rossi's at the pointy end. There's no betting against those things happening before the end of the season.

Spanish ace Pedrosa was able to notch a fantastic result in his first appereance on the challenging and tricky circuit in Monterey, California.

Fortuna Honda racer Melandri took advantage of Valentino Rossi`s problems -- who retire with a mechanic failure in his Yamaha -- to add another podium this season.

After this victory, Hayden leads the championship with 34 points over Pedrosa, who jumped back to second place, while Melandri is new third leaving Rossi in fourth.

TEAMCAR - It is happy to announce the return of Msportbike.com Mat Rempit Show. The event will be held for the 3rd time at Sepang International Circuit this weekend on the 22nd July 2006. Event is scheduled to start at 8pm.

Our main target is provide the youngsters with a safe and controlled environment to showcase their skills and deter them from "performing" on the streets. Where best to hold such event such as this but at a world class facility like SIC. For this we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to SIC, specially it's GM, Datuk Ahmad Mustafa for supporting this community event and has granted us access to use it's facilities.

Our last event saw over 120 registered participants. Unfortunately, weather wasn't on our side thus the need to cancel 2 events (Sprint and Rolling Stoppie) out of the 5 scheduled event for obvious safety reasons. Also due to limited number of volunteers, we now have to limit the number of participant due to limited volunteer manpower. It is however a great sign that the Rempits are finding this event something they would take part in. It has grown 4 folds in participation since it's inaugural show late last year. This event will see a maximum number of 120 participants on a first come first registered basis.

Fisichella finished 6th after another disappointed race which let the Ferrari slowly catching up on Renault for the Contrustor Championship.

Honda dominate German MotoGP qualifying

TEAMCAR - Honda dominated qualifying for the German MotoGP race by claiming the first three places on the grid for tomorrow's race at the Sachsenring.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, winner of the previous round at Donington Park, set the quickest time with a lap of one minute 21.815 seconds as defending champion Valentino Rossi continued to struggle.

Spaniard Pedrosa led home the Honda-powered Team Roberts machine of Kenny Roberts Jr and his fellow American Nicky Hayden on the second Repsol Honda.

But Rossi, who is not a fan of the Sachsenring circuit, was well off the pace in 11th, with Britain's James Ellison in 18th on the Tech 3 Yamaha.

Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo took pole position for the 250cc race on the Fortuna Aprilia as Britain's Dan Linfoot was 23rd on the Teng Tools Winona Racing Honda.

The Czech Republic's Lukas Pesek will begin the 125cc race from pole position and Britain's Bradley Smith, who scored his first world championship points at Donington, was 14th-quickest.

FERRARI Do It Again

TEAMCAR - Michael Schumacher took his 68th pole position here in Magny-Cours this afternoon, underlying that his success in Indianapolis was not just due to any Michelin conservatism but also Bridgestone’s improved performance.

The former champion looked strong all day and lapped his Ferrari in 1m 15.493s to seal the issue just as arch-rival Fernando Alonso posted 1m 15.785s for Renault and Michelin. It was not quite the result that the partisan crowd had expected, and it will be fascinating to see on Sunday which of them has the greater fuel load.
