A1 Grand Prix Lost USD200 Million

TEAMCAR - A1 Grand Prix lost USD 200 million in its first year, the assistant chairman Tony Teixeira of A1 GP told Blomberg TV yesterday. They expect they will lose less than USD 100 million before the race start.

A1 GP will need to loan another USD 120 million from Nomura Holdings for the second season of the races.

The lack of sponsorship, broadcasting and audience is the main reason of A1 GP lose. But Tony Teixeira said they expect they will reach their target audience of 16 million (TV viewers) in the second season while they have average of 9 million tv viewer for a single race.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix reach 350 million tv viewers for a single GP.
