Proton profitable but sees rocky road
TEAMCAR - Malaysia's biggest carmaker, state-controlled Proton Holdings, reported a fourth-quarter net profit in line with expectations on Tuesday, but painted a bleak outlook.
The company, which suffered heavy losses in the first half of its year to end-March, highlighted tough competition, dampened consumer demand at home and increasing energy costs.
Proton reported a fourth-quarter net profit of 127.2 million ringgit, compared with a loss of 63.9 million ringgit a year earlier. Sales slid 20 percent.
Proton, owned 43 percent by state investment arm Khazanah Nasional, led a sheltered life before the government began lowering tariffs on foreign cars under an Asian free-trade pact.
Its market share is in decline as foreign-made cars become a more attractive option to their locally made rivals, often blamed for shoddy parts and service quality.
Eager to boost its small export revenue, Proton said recently that it and China's Chery Automobile had agreed to jointly study plans to build and sell each other's cars in the two countries and elsewhere in southeast Asia.

"Buying" Carparks In Condominium
Teamcar-With the increasing number of cars per family nowadays, carpark is one of the most crucial factors for people to purchase a condominium or apartment. Some condominium do preserved one parking lot for each unit, but some tenants have to pay for each of their parking lots. Prices of parking lots of condominium in Kuala Lumpur range from RM2,000 - RM25,000 per lot. If I have 4 cars in my family, do I need to pay RM100,000 just for parking lots?

This is a note that we spotted on a community board in a condominium near Gombak area. The note stated that the residents live within the area have to be careful and be nice to their neighbour.
The note sounds that we are living in an extremly dangerous world and we have to protect ourselves since the authorities will no longer give you full protection.
Are we still safe in this country?

According to the reply of the petrol company, the act to sell that kind of product is unauthorised and they had solve the particular issue.
Actually, consumers have to be wise and dare to say no to this kind of approach and petrol companies have to guide their dealers from time to time to prevent this kind of inecthical act to happen again.

Mahathir condemns 'gutless' PM

Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad has accused his successor of surrendering sovereignty to Singapore over his handling of a bridge project.
Dr Mahathir said Dato Seri Abdullah had shown Malaysia was a "country with no guts".
Dr Mahathir remains a powerful force and feared enemy in Malaysian politics.
He chose Mr Abdullah as his successor but has been a frequent critic of the two-and-a-half year administration.
"I am unhappy only when you kowtow," he said. "This is our country, yet we have to seek permission from another country to build a bridge on our side. Where is the sovereignty?
Dato Seri Abdullah is currently in the Caribbean and has made no response to Dr Mahathir's comments. (BBC)
