Car Sales to Stay Flat
TEAMCAR - NEW car sales figure will either stay flat or decline slightly this year, the sole distributor of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia expects.
Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) executive director Dr Ang Bon Beng expects the company to maintain its performance for 2006 but it should enjoy a better run next year with the launch of three new models.
He noted that there was still hangover from the outcome of the National Automotive Policy, hence dampening industry sales so far this year.The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has forecast a 3 per cent growth to 565,000 units this year.
In 2005, sales jumped 13 per cent to an all-time high of 551,042 units.ETCM had another great year in 2005, selling 24,553 Nissan vehicles for a growth of 12 per cent based on the figures released by the MAA.
