New MD & CEO is Appointed Honda Malaysia

8 January 2010 - Honda Malaysia has announced the appointment of Yoichiro Ueno as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, in place of Toru Takahashi, who held the position since 1 April 2009. The 47-year-old Ueno has over 20 years of experience working in Honda’s various divisions all around the world. Formerly the Assistant Vice President of Automobile Sales of American Honda Motor Co. Inc, Ueno was responsible for the overall planning and coordination of sales and marketing operations in the U.S. market.

Ueno believes that Malaysia, with its geographic location and human resources, is essential in Honda’s quest for continual regional growth. The Malaysian car market is no less important and still possesses room for growth, according to Ueno, who attributes the sales improvement by almost 18,000 units (2.1 percent market share) over the last three years to the strength of the Honda brand in Malaysia.
